James Vincent McNichol III, known professionally as Jimmy McNichol, is an American actor and singer who first gained fame as a teen idol in the late 1970s. At the beginning of his career his popularity quickly grew, causing networks like CBS to create and implement multiple television series specifically for his involvement and leading roles. McNichol had lead roles in Smokey Bites the Dust (1981), and opposite Susan Tyrrell in the horror film Butcher, Baker, Nightmare Maker (1981).
In early 2013, McNichol was interviewed by Gregg Turkington for the On Cinema at the Cinema segment Popcorn Classics Behind the Curtain, focused on Smokey Bites the Dust. McNichol praised the action and chase scenes of the film, and felt that the internet was the best way to find copies of the film. He felt that DVDs would eventually be phased out for another form of media format. He praised movie critics for their valuable insight about what movies to see and what movies to skip. He also announced that he would be releasing new music videos in early 2013 on http://www.FindingJimmy.com.[1]
In February 2014, he wished Turkington well on his attempt to watch 500 movies in 500 days.[2]
