When Oscar Gets It Wrong

Though On Cinema often praises Oscar for its wisdom in distributing Academy Awards, there are occasions in which a host or a guest may disagree with a decision Oscar has made.

List of times Oscar got it wrong

Gregg Turkington stated that the Academy made the wrong decision to not award Ghostbusters any Academy Awards.^[1]
Gregg mentions that Dan Aykroyd's nomination for a Golden Globe for Driving Miss Daisy was “well-deserved” in response to Tim Heidecker mentioning the film's Oscar wins, suggesting he felt that Aykroyd should have also been acknowledged by Oscar for his performance.^[2]
Tim and Gregg suggest that the Academy has a bias against action movies, spy movies, or movies about the Cold War.^[3]
Gregg said that All That Jazz should've won an Academy Award, but didn't.^[4]
