Hollywood, California! Every street has a story, and these are but just a few, on On Cinema On Location!
— Gregg Turkington, On Cinema On Location intro
On Cinema On Location is a segment of the movie review show On Cinema at the Cinema created by Gregg Turkington. In installments of the segment, Gregg travels to various locations around Hollywood & Victorville, California, where famous movie scenes were filmed. The name was first coined by Tim Heidecker in Podcast Episode 10: "Escape from Alcatraz", when Tim and Gregg spoke about Escape from Alcatraz, a movie filmed in San Francisco, while being in San Francisco themselves. It is the second-longest running segment on On Cinema at the Cinema, and one of the show's most iconic.
The segment proper first appeared in On Cinema at the Cinema Season 1 Episode 3: "Twilight: Part Two" and "Anna Karenina". The On Cinema at the Cinema incarnation features an intro narration from Gregg, followed by a video of Gregg at a filming location from a famous movie in Los Angeles. Gregg usually ends the segment by stating, “Back to you, Tim!”
Gregg is extremely proud of the segment, going so far as to once describe them as short films.[1]
Occasionally, variants of the segment took place outside L.A. In Season 8, due to the show being filmed in the Victorville Film Center, the segment was modified to feature filming locations in Victorville.
