Ant-Man

Ant-Man is a 2015 superhero action film from Marvel Studios. Directed by Peyton Reed, the film stars Paul Rudd as Scott Lang AKA Ant-Man and Gregg Turkington as Dale. Despite the star power, thrills, and chills, the film has received one of the lowest ratings of any movie reviewed on On Cinema at the Cinema, a measly one bag of popcorn. The film began a series of films, and has received at least one sequel, with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania releasing in 2023, while the status of 2018's Ant-Man and the Wasp as an official sequel is disputed.

Synopsis

Scott Lang applies for a job at Baskin-Robbins in order to get his life back on track after being jailed for three years, having stolen from his old company Vistacorp. Things go well at Baskin-Robbins until Dale, the manager, finds out that Scott omitted the arrest on his job application. Dale admired him for the burglary from such a big company, but due to corporate policy, still had to fire him. Dale, being the hero he is, allows Scott to “steal” a smoothie on the way out.

If it wasn't for those encouraging words of support from Dale, Scott may have never had the spirit to break into another big house with his former cellmates and find the suit that made him Ant-Man. As Ant-Man, he saves the day from some big world-ending event with some ants or something.

Rating

The film was reviewed on On Cinema at the Cinema season 7, episode 1, along with Fantastic Four, where it received a disastrous 1 bag of popcorn total from Tim and Gregg combined. Tim decried the movie as “real trash” and that “every person involved with the film including the actors, even the small parts” should be ashamed. Gregg, wearing a blurred out Ant-Man shirt, recused himself from reviewing the movie as he did not feel it was fair to rate something where he had such a major role, something Tim didn't feel was a problem when he gave Fantastic Four 6 bags of popcorn.

Tim's rating: 1 bag of popcorn

Gregg's rating: Did not review due to conflict of interests
