TCH Vape System
The TCH Vape System was a “medicinal” vape created by Dr. San. It was distributed at the Electric Sun Desert Music Festival where it caused at least 19 deaths and many injuries by attendees who ingested the vapes. The system was named after Tim Heidecker's late son, Tom Cruise Heidecker Jr.
Background and contents
Previous medicinal vape systems devised by Dr. San utilized the ma huang root, which caused heart palpitations as a side effect; the TCH Vape System eliminated the ma huang root entirely. To replace it, Dr. San used the venom of the Bufo alvarius toad. He acquired the venom through a friend who raised the toads and milked their venom sacs. The purported effects of vaping the venom were to regulate brain waves such that deep meditation could be achieved, allegedly at the level of a “master meditator” such as a monk.
At the Electric Sun Desert Music Festival, the first 100 attendees were given a free TCH Vape System kit, featuring a vape pen, vape blend bottle, cleaning kit, and USB charger.
Trivia
- The Bufo alvarius toad (now Incilius alvarius) is commonly referred to as the Colorado River toad, or the Sonoran Desert toad. It is found in the desert climates of Mexico and the southeastern United States, including Arizona and New Mexico. Its venom is known to cause psychoactive effects when smoked or ingested, but doing so is dangerous, and the side effects can and have resulted in death.
