Breaking character is when the veil lifts, and the absurdity of what's happening causes one of the actors in the show to break out laughing. Usually these occur during an Oscar Special, as the live format prevents editing and multiple takes from covering these incidents. However, there are some rare cases it occurs outside of a live special.
