Tim and Gregg squeeze in time between filming DECKER Port of Call: Hawaii to review a classic tale and the latest Ron Howard.
Tim appears in a Hawaiian shirt, fumbling with his microphone and seeming a bit harried, but he is in a good mood, apparently energized by the busy filming schedule for season 2 of Decker. Gregg's mood doesn't seem nearly as buoyant. He appears sleepy as Tim exults about the now-happy Heidecker family, still living at Gregg's home and having taken over his master bedroom. Tim also shows a headshot of baby Tom Cruise Heidecker Jr., predicting that he will become a big star and encouraging Hollywood to cast him. Gregg agrees, saying the child could play the baby in a reboot of the Blondie films and comic strip.
First up is a Ron Howard movie, In the Heart of the Sea, which Tim describes as “a good seafaring movie.” He finds the film superior to Ron Howard's television work, including Happy Days. Gregg concurs that he “would rather watch a movie,” and notes that Happy Days is a rip-off of American Graffiti (1973, 112 mins). Tim disagrees, describing the movie as part of a “movement.” The two “agree to disagree” on the issue.
Tim says that “both of us” (unclear if he is referring to him and Gregg, or Ayaka) saw Cinderella the previous night at midnight, and that he had trouble staying awake, but he does not intend that as a knock on the film. He says he liked it, and says director Kenneth Branagh should win Best Director. Gregg says that although the story of Cinderella has become “something for children,” the story has plenty of adult elements that this film delves into, but it is still appropriate for children. Tim relates that he sat Tom Cruise Jr. in front of the TV while Judge Wapner was playing, and the child didn't understand it; Gregg recommends a children's movie like Tom Thumb (1958, 98 mins).
There's no time for Popcorn Classics or any other segments today; the duo has to get back to Hawaii for filming.
