Tim and Gregg state that the movie should have won the
Academy Award. In fact, at the 71st Academy Awards, the film won an Oscar for Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Film Editing, Best Sound, and Best Sound Effects Editing. It did not win for Best Costume Design, as Gregg hypothesized.
