On Cinema at the Cinema Season 5 Episode 9: "The November Man" and "Jessabelle"

I feel like if I'd been completely absorbed in it, I would give it five bags of popcorn. And that's not the movie's fault, so I'm going to give it five bags of popcorn.

Tim finds notes of Decker in The November Man while Gregg reveals his favorite Bond actor.

Synopsis

Tim is nursing a ringing hangover today, after living it up at a biker bar the night before. Gregg asks if he has seen The Hangover (2009, 100 mins), but Tim ignores the question, and shares a little about his night out with “the guys.”

Today's first movie is The November Man, an action film starring James Bond himself, Pierce Brosnan. Tim and Gregg both note the film's suspicious resemblance to Decker, although Tim denies the influence of James Bond on the show. Tim says he enjoyed the “good intrigue” and the action, and awards it four bags. Gregg says the presence of a former Bond made it difficult for him to concentrate, but he awards it five bags anyway.

The next film, Jessabelle, is a ghost movie. Tim says it wasn't his favorite, but he applauds the director (Kevin Durant?) “for making a great film.” Gregg says the film Ghost (1990, 127 mins). is the “gold standard” of ghost movies, but found this one scary enough. However, he says he found himself “haunted” by James Bond, as he saw Jessabelle immediately after seeing November Man, so it was again difficult to concentrate. But the film is still a five-bagger in his book.

Gregg's segment today is On Cinema on Guests, featuring a clip of Gregg interviewing a special guest. Today's guest is none other than Ayaka, who appears on a video chat bouncing a baby in her arms. Gregg asks her what she's been up to, and she says “I've been busy with baby,” revealing that she and Tim “have a baby now.” She also reveals that she named him after Tom Cruise, Tim's favorite actor, and bought a ticket to come back to America with the money that Tim sent her.

When the show returns, Tim is gone; Gregg says he “had to make a phone call,” and wraps up the show.
