Tim and Gregg put an end to the TV vs. film debate and play a high-stakes game of “Stump the Buff.”
The two jump into the reviews without much fanfare. First up is Need for Speed, featuring Aaron Paul and rising star Imaging Poots. Tim calls it one of the best films of the year, and says it proves Aaron Paul is a movie star, not a TV star. He further claims that the film is definitive proof that movies are better than TV shows, and Gregg emphatically agrees. Gregg says when he went to see the film, a friend asked to borrow his tape of the film Speed, joking that he had a “need for speed.” Both award the film five bags.
Tim has a hard time getting through the cast and synopsis of Walk of Shame, and seems ready to end the show when Gregg jumps in with his review. He finds the film's plot “unrealistic” and “insincere” and feels inclined to dock it, but enjoyed it enough, so he awards it five bags anyway. Tim says the film reminds him of the Johnny Cash film Walk the Line due to their similar titles.
Tim debuts a new segment called Movie History. His topic for today is the history of VHS, more specifically, the death of VHS. He talks about the 2006 film A History of Violence, the last major film released on tape. Gregg disagrees that the format is obsolete, remarking that he often records new releases onto VHS from his TV, and that this cannot be done with Blu-Rays. Tim says the picture quality of Blu-Rays is much better, but Gregg says that is “debatable.” Tim merely lets that go with a “whatever.”
They close out the show with another round of Stump the Buff. For today's game, Gregg has a chance to win $1000, but Tim ups the stakes to $2000 if Gregg is able to answer all five questions correctly. Gregg is presented with five still images, and must answer which film they came from. He misses the first two (despite correcting his answer in the first one), and finally answers the third and fourth correctly. Tim says Gregg will win $1000 if he answers the fifth question correctly. Tim shows him a still from Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. Gregg answers Star Trek II, and is marked incorrect. The two bicker until the lights dim and the cameras cut.
