**Tom Cruise Heidecker Jr.** was the son of [[tim|Tim]] and [[ayaka|Ayaka Heidecker]]. He was born during [[season5|season 5]], likely in Japan, although his place of birth is never explicitly mentioned. He died of an unnamed illness towards the end of [[season7|season 7]], after having been unsuccessfully treated by Tim's family physician [[drsan]].

===== History =====
Ayaka and Tim began dating after Ayaka's return to the United States in mid-2013. She was forced to return to Japan again due to a visa issue a few months later.[(cite:s03e10>[[s03e10]])] She revealed her pregnancy to Tim through a letter, which he read in the [[s04e10|final episode]] of season 4.[(cite:s04e10>[[s04e10]])]

Tim sent her funds to undergo an abortion.[(cite:s05e02>[[s05e02]])] However, Ayaka chose to give birth and used the funds Tim sent her to return to the United States and raise the child with Tim.[(cite:s05e09>[[s05e09]])] Tim refused to accept responsibility for the child, as Ayaka went against his wishes, and turned them away. [[gregg]] complained to Tim about this, as Ayaka and Tom would often show up at Gregg's doorstep in tears, having nowhere else to go.[(cite:s05e10>[[s05e10]])] After Ayaka disappeared with the child, Tim, apparently guilt-stricken, publicly plead for her and Tom to come back.[(cite:oscar3>[[oscar3]])]

Ayaka agreed to return with the child, and Tim and family moved into Gregg's home.[(cite:s06e05>[[s06e05]])] Tim had high hopes for Tom, declaring that he would become a star, and sending his headshot around for a potential role in a commercial or Hollywood production.[(cite:s06e06>[[s06e06]])][(cite:s06e07>[[s06e07]])] However, Tom's health suffered due to Tim's refusal to allow credentialed doctors to treat Tom, opting instead for holistic alternative health treatments under the care of [[drsan]].

Tom suffered a medical emergency and was rushed to the hospital sometime before [[s07e09|season 7 episode 9]], and passed away shortly thereafter. He had come down with some sort of illness, the exact nature of which is unclear. During the [[s07e10|final episode]] of season 7, Tim said that Dr. San "tried everything" but was unable to save Tom. Dr. San explained that they foraged as many herbs as they could and used magnets to "pull the iron in his blood back into alignment," but to no avail. Gregg argued that perhaps they should have taken Tom to "a real doctor" long before, but Dr. San countered that the hospital is where most illnesses are contracted in the first place.

==== Posthumous career ====
Tom was resurrected by Tim in the form of a digital avatar, who first appeared on the [[oscar4|4th Oscar Special]]. Appearing as a poorly-rendered blonde teenager, Tom revealed that he has become a successful actor and model, and considers Tim a role model. He also cautioned against vaccination, describing it as "so dangerous." The avatar unfortunately suffered a number of glitches, including appearing nude for brief moments.[(cite:oscar4>[[oscar4]])]

Tom's avatar also appeared on the [[oscar7|7th Oscar Special]], where he was a guest at Tim's wedding to [[toni]]. He declared excitement for his "new mom," describing his "first mom" (Ayaka) as "selfish." He also promised Tim he would continue acting and modeling in his name.[(cite:oscar7>[[oscar7]])]
