**//On Cinema//** is a movie review podcast and initial entry in the [[oncinema|media franchise of the same name]], created by [[tim]] with frequent guest appearances by [[gregg]]. It focused on retrospectives of classic movies chosen by Tim, with the participants giving their thoughts on the legacy of each episode's movie and its impact on the film industry. Episodes focusing on newer movie releases were also posted infrequently. Episodes were initially posted by Tim every Monday,[(cite:pod9>[[pod9]])] though this schedule was not rigorously maintained.

Though many fans find it inessential compared to its more well-known video version, discussions started on the podcast carried over to //On Cinema at the Cinema//, including topics such as [[bond]] and [[startrek]].

The podcast occasionally awarded movies [[goldedition]] status, which was a certification stating the movie was approved by both Tim and Gregg.

In the summer of 2012, the podcast went on a hiatus to allow for Tim and Gregg to travel.[(cite:pod42>[[pod42]])] Upon return, the show was given a new theme song, and was treated as a sort of fresh start or "season 2"[(cite:pod44)] for the show. In [[pod44]], Tim announced that due to his focus on the 2012 election, the podcast would begin focusing on movies chosen by that episode's guest.

Near the end of the podcast's life, Tim mentioned that he felt that the podcast was not popular, and that he was not getting as much positive feedback as he expected. Gregg, however, disagreed, stating that he was getting a lot of people on [[twitter|Twitter]] and Facebook stating how much they enjoyed the show and its content.[(cite:pod44>[[pod44]])]

Eventually, the show was noticed by [[thingx]], who partnered with Tim to develop it into a web video series, //[[ocatc]]//. Though initially it was proposed that the podcast would merely be on hiatus while //At the Cinema// was running, and would eventually return between seasons of the web show,[(cite:podocatc>[[podocatc]])] the immediate popularity of //At the Cinema// lead to the podcast's hiatus to become indefinite, with only a handful of episodes released after the premiere of the spin-off.

The theme song to the podcast is //Swing City Short//, a stock track from iMovie. Starting from [[pod43]], this changed to an unknown track, which according to Gregg was unpopular with fans.[(cite:pod44)] The new track stopped being used after [[pod49]].

A bonus episode, which is now [[lostmedia|lost]], was released in 2012 on the oncinemapodcast.com website. On July 1, 2022, a user named stepuncle [[https://archive.org/details/OC-Podcast-Sandy|uploaded the archive of every Red Cross episode to the Internet Archive]].
