Busy week as the buffs review two new flicks and share two new Popcorn Classics.
Synopsis
A somewhat subdued Tim welcomes the viewers and introduces his //co-host//, Gregg Turkington. The duo reveal that last week's episode was a success and that ratings are improving. Gregg announces that dwyer called him and initiated a three-way call with Bruce Delgado. The Delgados have set up a new company, delgadomedia, and saw //On Cinema// as a potential money maker. They have given Gregg increased creative control over the franchise. Although Tim will remain host and things will mostly be "business as usual," Gregg will see to it that the show focuses on movies and reviews more of them. Tim seems to find this news ironically funny, but even though Gregg pitches it as a win-win for everyone, Tim seems to be rather displeased. Gregg says the show will feature three movie reviews a week and two popcorn classics going forward.
The first movie today is //Life of the Party//, a "Melissa McCarthy comedy vehicle." Tim says McCarthy is turning out to be "the John Belushi of the female gender." Gregg hopes Oscar will "get with the modern world" and create appropriate awards such as "Best Comedy" and "Best Female Cast." Nevertheless, the movie is worthy of all the awards, including the coveted five bags.
//Breaking In// is about a home invasion; Tim categorizes it as a "be-careful-what-you-wish-for" movie. Gregg thought it was going to be a sequel to the bicycle film //Breaking Away// (1979, 101 mins.), but instead it ended up being more of a horror movie. It was a difficult watch for him, but after all, going to the movies is all about new experiences. With that, Tim thanks the viewers for watching- but Gregg catches him just in time for popcornclassics.
As promised, there are two Popcorn Classics on the docket today. Tim introduces the first one, //Mystery Men//, a superhero movie spoof with Ben Stiller, rated PG-13. Gregg presents //Eye for an Eye//, starring Oscar alumnus Sally Field, and Keifer Sutherland, and running....102 minutes. Tim, showing increased agitation, finally ends the episode.
After the lights dim, Tim expresses doubt about having two popcorn classics, stating "people don't care how long a movie is."
