The childlike wonder of "Turbo" is as entertaining as it is confusing, and "Red 2" lives up to the high mark set by its predecessor.
===== Synopsis =====
Tim once again sports his gray fedora, while his guest, Gregg Turkington, wears his popcorn-yellow //On Cinema// polo introduced last week. Tim introduces a brand-new item, an //On Cinema//-themed mug, that is now for sale. Tim accidentally drops and shatters it, however.
First up is //Turbo//, a 3D animated film about a racing snail, featuring the voices of Ryan Reynolds and Paul Giamatti. Tim says the film "had everything," including comedy, adventure, and familiar voices. He wishes it was themed after NASCAR instead of the Indy 500, however, but still awards it five bags. Gregg appreciates the film's "unique take" on racing movies (a slow-and-steady snail, instead of a turtle) and praises the voice acting. He also awards it five bags, plus a shaker of salt to kill snails in your garden. Both agree that the film was "confusing," for Tim because it made him feel like a child, and for Gregg because he initially mistook the "3D" to mean that the film was the third in a series. This annoys Tim for some reason, who says he is tired and cannot sleep on one side of his face.
//Red 2// has a star-studded cast, which Tim appreciates. He says the film has "a lot of humor, a lot of heart, and a lot of familiar faces," and says it is one of his favorite films of the year. Gregg says the film is very violent, but the violence serves the plot. Both award it highest marks. Before moving on the next segment, Tim encourages the audience to give feedback on the show's segments, but gets a bit miffed at Gregg for interrupting.
Next up is a brand new segment, [[onpopcorn]], in which Gregg has a guest review different brands of popcorn on a scale of 1-5 videotapes (an inversion of the film reviews). His first guest is none other than Tim Heidecker. Arrayed on a table are three brands: Orville Redenbacher's ("the Cadillac of popcorn"), Pop-Secret, and a generic store brand. Gregg has Tim clear his palate with a barbecue chip and water and tries Orville Redenbacher, and awards it four videotapes. He says the Pop-Secret is over-cooked and burnt, but still awards it four tapes. Tim finds the store brand less buttery and salty than the first two, and awards it three tapes. Gregg is a bit surprised, as this is his personal favorite, but Tim says the Orville Redenbacher was his favorite.
