This episode also introduces a provocative new political segment by Tim. ===== Synopsis ===== Today's first film is //Oz the Great and Powerful//. Tim says that Michelle Williams is "very good looking." Gregg says the movie isn't really about that, as it is a sequel to //The Wizard of Oz// (1939, 101 minutes). Tim immediately corrects him, noting the film is a prequel, and Gregg says that he and his fellow "Oz-Freaks" have been waiting since 1939 for one. He loved the film, but "missed the Munchkins," and laments that the one surviving Munchkin from the original film was not included in this one. He and Tim also note that the line "we're not in Kansas anymore" should have been included. Both award the film high marks, however. The second film, //Dead Man Down//, stars Colin Farrell, Tim's favorite "current young actor." Tim says he "doesn't know how to make bad movies," and picks him to win an [[oscarpick|Oscar]] for this film. Gregg notes that the Oscars now pick ten Best Picture nominees, and they have "burned through them" on the show. He calls //Dead Man Down// a "great movie." Tim debuts his new segment, [[60secondsoapbox]], in which he talks about "serious stuff" unrelated to movies. For this segment, he pontificates on the role of government, arguing for free markets and "less regulation," and says the current government "is trying to take over everyone's lives." At the end, he slips in that we should be "making a promise to our seniors." After the theater darkens, an annoyed Gregg takes Tim to task for reneging on the promise he made during the podcast not to talk politics anymore. Tim dismisses this, saying he feels good about the segment. ===== Ratings ===== **//Oz the Great and Powerful// (2013, 130 mins.)**\\ **[[tim|Tim]]**: 4 bags of popcorn\\ **[[gregg|Gregg]]**: 5 bags of popcorn (combined in Toto's basket) **//Dead Man Down// (2013, 118 mins.)**\\ **[[tim|Tim]]**: 5 bags of popcorn, 3 sodas, [[oscarpick|OSCAR PICK]]\\ **[[gregg|Gregg]]**: 5 bags of popcorn, 1 can of mace ===== Trivia ===== * Debut of 60-Second Soapbox.
