The **Academy Awards**, often referred to as the **Oscars** or simply **Oscar**, is a movie awards show hosted by the [[wp>Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences]]. Every year, //[[oncinema|On Cinema]]// host an annual [[oscarspecials|Oscar Special]] to cover the event.

Early on in //[[ocatc]]//, host [[tim]] and frequent guest [[gregg]] would give official [[oscarpick|"Oscar Picks,"]] which were represented by a small Oscar statuette.

Starting in 2013, //On Cinema// began hosting an annual [[oscarspecials|Oscar Special]], which would air during commercial breaks occurring during the actual Oscar broadcast. During these specials, Tim and Gregg would make predictions about not just potential award winners, but for tactics Oscar might use to increase failing ratings. For example, during the //[[oscar1]]//, Gregg predicted a write-in Best Picture win for //[[lotr|The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey]]//, and Tim predicted that host Seth MacFarlane would step down to reveal the event was actual being hosted by Billy Crystal.

Gregg once predicted that following the death of actor Jonathan Winters in 2013, Oscar would implement a "Best Comic Actor" category in his honor, similar to the Golden Globes.[(cite:s03e05>[[s03e05]])]
