**Mel** is a fictional character and one of the four main characters in //[[dootledots]]//. <wrap todo>Is Mel a guy or a girl?</wrap> They appear to be a mostly silent protagonist, only saying one line during all of the //[[oscar13|Last Oscar Special]]//. During the [[dootledotse01|first episode]], they only snicker.

Mel was created by show creators [[tim|New Amato]] and [[gamato|G. Amato]] alongside the other three main characters of //Dootle Dots// during an arts and crafts session at the [[themanor]], about a week before G. Amato's untimely demise.[(cite:s16e07>[[s16e07]])] Final touches to the character design were added by animation supervisor [[aidan]].

Mel is a purple circle with stick arms and legs. They have black dots for eyes and a simple mouth.
